Tax
Accountant
All of our clients require accurate, timely and creative tax planning
and counsel. Therefore, you will play a key role on our team
and will be asked to take on a wide range of responsibilties.
You should have a solid track record of experience with tax preparation,
audits and financial reporting. You will be expected to:

Prepare individual, corporation, S corporation, partnership,
and trust income tax returns. |

Take responsibility for all phases of an assignment including
planning, compliance and review. |
 |
Research complex tax issues and then make clear and concise
conclusions from your research. |
 |
Develop creative solutions to client problems and recommend
creative tax planning strategies. |
 |
Possess a working knowledge of some (if not all) of the following
software programs: Lacerte, Pro FX, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint,
Peachtree Accounting, Quickbooks, and trial balance programs. |

Accountant
At Scott A. Goffstein & Associates, all
our top people are called on to actively manage our clients' accounts.
You'll be asked to oversee the work of entry-level staffers, make
on-site visits to clients, and ensure that our quality standards
are met at all times. You should have a solid record of accounting
and/or bookkeeping experience. You will be expected to:
- Take responsibility for the preparation of monthly compilations
of financial statement reports.
- Prepare and oversee the reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
- Assist clients with more complex accounting issues.
- Supervise entry-level staff in the preparation of sales and
excise tax returns, inventory analyses, and various registrations.
- Prepare client trial balances and adjusting journal entries.
- Assist with the review and audit of financial statement reports.
- Possess a working knowledge of some (if not all) of the following
software programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Peachtree
Accounting, Quickbooks, and trial balance programs.

Accounting
Clerk
This is a position where you will be able to use your business acumen
and/or business administration studies to develop a career in accounting.
We need someone who has a basic understanding of the accounting process,
who is detail oriented (almost to a fault), and who believes, as we
do, that we are all capable of producing top quality work. You
will be expected to:

Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
including data entry, cash receipts and cash disbursements. |

Assist with reconciliations of balance sheet accounts. |
 |
Prepare applications for extension of filing individual and
corporate income tax returns. |
 |
Prepare sales tax returns and payroll tax returns. |
 |
Produce inventory analyses. |
 |
Prepare client trial balances and adjusting journal entries.

Help clients with various registrations. |
 |
Be ready to pitch in with general office support when necessary. |

Administrative
Assistant
No business can succeed unless it has a strong internal staff.
The position of Administrative Assistant is a crucial one at Team
Scott A. Goffstein. It is also a highly visible one.
You will be required to "wear a number of hats" and to handle both
client and employee matters with discretion. You will be expected
to:

Answer phones, greet clients, and prepare correspondence. |

Update our client database regularly. |
 |
Maintain billing records, generate reports, and prepare invoices
on a periodic basis. |
 |
Perform general internal bookkeeping duties such as entering
invoices into accounting software, printing out checks, and
mailing in payments on a bi-monthly basis. |
 |
Maintain and update library publications. |
 |
Photocopy, collate, and bind corporate, individual, fiduciary,
and partnership tax returns. |
 |
Order office supplies, coordinate mailings, coordinate office
maintenance and other administrative tasks. |
 |
Possess a working knowledge of some (if not all) of the following
software programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Timeslips
for Windows, and Peachtree Accounting. |

Accounting
Intern
Team Scott A. Goffstein is a perfect environment for an accounting
and/or business administration student to learn their way around
a professional accounting firm. You should have excellent
computer skills, an eye for detail, an ability to focus on a job
until it is done, and a readiness to expand your horizons.
In general, you will be involved in the:

Preparation of trial balances for numerous small businesses
in a variety of industries. |
 |
Preparation of basic individual and corporate income tax returns. |
 |
Most all of the same activities that an accounting clerk is
involved in (see above). |
